HTC Disire Z Review

HTC's come a long way since its first ever portrait QWERTY slider phone Blue Angel (O2 xda IIs, Vodafone v1620, Sprint PPC6600, etc.) circa 2004, the legacy of which is carried by the TyTN, Touch Pro, G1, myTouch 3G Slide, and many more sliders albeit in landscape form. The cumulative phone-building expertise leads us to the Desire Z, which is probably better known as the European alter ego of the T-Mobile G2. As far as hardware goes, the two Androids are practically identical twins; but for software, the AWS-free Desire Z comes tattooed with HTC's Sense UI, and packs a handful of extra goodies. So will this phone trump its American cousin?

We personally give this phone 9 out of 10 just because of its look and some of the great features.

How to install NitoTV on AppleTV 2G

This is a quick guide on how to install NitoTV, the first third party app for the AppleTV 2G. NitoTV is a simple Weather/RSS reader app and is just the start of whats to come in the future of apps for the AppleTV. So lets get to the guide…

So your AppleTV will need to be Jailbroken before doing this.
1) SSH into your Apple TV2, the default password is “alpine”
(Editor note: on Mac fire up Terminal and type:
ssh root@192.168.1.5 replace number with your AppleTV ip address listed in Settings-General-Network
password: alpine
then continue steps below)
2) Type “passwd” and enter a new password (if you wish)
3) Type: echo “deb http://apt.awkwardtv.org ./” > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/awkwardtv.list
4) Type: apt-get update
5) Type: apt-get install com.nito.nitoTV
6) Type: killall Lowtide
7) Enjoy

Step 3 doesn’t really scroll much text but 4 and 5 churn out a bunch of stuff. Answer ‘yes’ at the prompts. Step 6 reboots your AppleTV.

White iPhone 4 Delayed until Spring of 2011

Yet again Apple has announced that they are pushing back the release of the white iPhone 4 until Spring of 2011. They haven’t said why its being pushed back further but supposedly its because of some manufacturing issues. We can guess they are waiting to release the white iPhone 4 with CDMA support for use on Verizon’s network. If you have been waiting to get a white iPhone 4, you are going to have to settle with the black one unless you want to wait until next year.

Apple Releases iOS 4.0.2 and 3.2.2, Fixes PDF Exploit

Apple has just released iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone and iPod touch and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad through iTunes. This update plugs a security hole that would allow malicious PDF files to compromise iOS. The PDF security hole was used in the JailbreakMe website so that users could jailbreak their iPhones without running any special software; all they had to do was download a specially-created PDF file. When Mobile Safari loads the PDF and reads the font section, it incorrectly executes the code inside the font section which takes advantage of an exploit to crack iOS.
